A Bayou La Batre police officer facing accusations of engaging in sexual relationships with underage girls was taken into custody Wednesday by Mobile County sheriff’s deputies.
The sheriff’s office received evidence about William “B.J.” Squires that led deputies to search the officer’s home Wednesday, according to a sheriff’s office spokeswoman.
The spokeswoman did not immediately know if Squires was charged with any crimes, and Mobile County jail records did not show Squires was booked there, but Sheriff Paul Burch told Fox 10 that the officer was taken into custody.
No cases under Squires’ name were listed in online court records.
