However, now that the series has entered its final saga, Eiichiro Oda, the creator of One Piece, has decided to once again level up its game.
The manga creator is typically known for bringing out-of-the-box ideas in the story and the character developments, which generally lead to him breaking the stereotypes that are followed within the industry. This is one of the main reasons why fans consider One Piece to be the pinnacle of the anime and manga community.
With the story now reaching its long-awaited conclusion, Oda has decided to break all the major tropes of the industry and take One Piece to an even higher level. This was recently seen during One Piece chapter 1127 when Nami broke a major female character trope of sticking together.
Eiichiro Oda is Breaking Stereotypes Through Nami
The One Piece series has been going on for almost 30 years. In these 30 years, the series has developed quite a big fandom that loves and appreciates every element and aspect of it. Thus, Oda always tries to make sure that he gives the best performance through each and every character and makes them look unparalleled to other characters from the anime community.
A similar thing was done by Oda in One Piece chapter 1127 when the manga creator broke “the women sticking together trope” through Nami. Nami was seen abandoned in a Lego castle, where she was attacked by dangerous creatures and was forced to call for help. While her calls to Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji were understandable, fans were confused about her calling for Usopp.
She could have easily called for Robin, who is much stronger than Usopp. But Oda chose to break the trope and gave her help in the form of Usopp, who himself got in even more trouble. While Nami and Usopp’s duo is a common occurrence, it usually happens as a coincidence because Nami would much rather stay with Robin than with Usopp.
Eiichiro Oda is Taking One Piece To The Next Level
In recent times, Eiichiro Oda has decided to make One Piece intriguing by taking it away from the norms of the anime and manga industry and making it stand on its own. The manga creators have broken every major trope, be it for the protagonist, the narrative, or for other characters. And the incident with Nami is not the first occurrence.
Another recent example of this was seen during the Wano arc when Oda once again decided to break “the tough guy” trope through Sanji. When Sanji was in trouble with Black Maria, he didn’t even think twice to ask for Robin’s help. This is certainly exceptional, as strong male characters like Sanji are never seen asking for help, especially from a female character.
While the misogyny of this is understandable, Oda has been trying to prove the uniqueness of One Piece’s narrative through different scenarios. Thus, in a way, One Piece is proving itself to be the most eccentric storyline ever created in the history of anime and manga.
