Despite being one of the greatest anime and manga series of all time, Yuki Tabata’s Black Clover has been criticized and trolled by fans for one specific reason. Many anime viewers feel that Black Clover is just a ripoff of Masashi Kishimoto’s Naruto, and there are more than just a few similarities between the two. Thus, Tabata had to live with this allegation for a long time.
However, while fans believe that Black Clover is copied from Naruto, there are multiple aspects that prove otherwise. This is why when Tabata got sick of the allegations and trolls about his work being a ripoff of Naruto, he decided to troll everyone back with one of the manga chapters from the Black Clover series.
The manga creator used a reference from another series from the Big Three category and portrayed it in a way that looked like he was trolling every critic who accused him and Black Clover. This was a good move because it somewhat cleared Black Clover’s name.
Yuki Tabata Trolled Black Clover Haters
Ever since Black Clover came out, anime fans have been accusing Tabata of creating a story that looks like a replica of Masashi Kishimoto’s Naruto. This accusation comes from the fact that both Asta and Naruto (protagonists of both series) share a similarity in their introductions to the story. Both of them have been ostracized from their villages and had to work hard to earn their recognition.
Asta’s goals and motivation to prove himself sound a lot like Naruto, but their character development is completely different. Thus, Tabata once decided to troll the Black Clover haters by including a reference from Tite Kubo’s Bleach to confuse them. Tabata decided to take a character’s name from Bleach’s one-shot No Breaths from Hell and use it for his own character.
In Chapter 338, Yami Sukehiro’s sister is introduced for the first time, and her name is Ichika Yami. But the intriguing thing is that this is also the name of Renji’s daughter in Bleach No Breaths from Hell. Yuki Tabata’s technique of using another series from the Big Three confused the trolls who accused Black Clover of copying Naruto.
Black Clover is Completely Different From Naruto
Fans need to understand that Black Clover and Naruto are two completely different storylines, created in two different worlds, with two different arrays of characters. While the introduction plot of Asta and Naruto might look similar, their character development is completely unique and is motivated by two different things.
While Naruto was evidently feared because of the monster inside him, Asta was ridiculed for being born different. Also, Naruto in a way had the backing of Kurama from the start, as he intentionally or unintentionally provided him with chakra that could help him. Asta trained hard from day one and made his body capable of withstanding every possible danger.
The argument also arises that Asta also got help from his inner devil, but he was introduced very late in the story. Thus, Asta’s struggles are completely different from Naruto’s, and because of this, the entire Black Clover story takes a completely different turn.
