Hand’s Annecy Vlieks and Mercy’s Sarah Roberts are friends and have been competing against each other since middle school. Roberts beat Vlieks for the Class M state cross country title last year; Saturday, it was Vlieks’ turn to beat Roberts at the Wickham Invitational cross country meet.
