Ryan Williams ‘like a simulation’ Alabama teammate says of surreal WR

Ryan Williams keeps getting better and better each game he plays in college football.

His latest performance was a six-catch, 177-yard day capped by a touchdown that won No. 4 Alabama the game against No. 1/2 Georgia 41-34 on Saturday at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

To say the true freshman has impressed his teammates is an understatement.

“The kid is … it’s like a simulation watching him play,” tight end CJ Dippre said. “He is great. He can take, if he had problems, he could take my NIL money. I’ll give it to him. He can have all mine.”

Keep succeeding like this, and Williams probably won’t need Dippre’s assistance with NIL. But it was a nice gesture nonetheless, a phrase Dippre said with a smile.

Williams certainly deserves all the praise considering his heroics when it looked like Georgia (3-1, 1-1 SEC) might steal the victory from the Crimson Tide (4-0, 1-0).

The Bulldogs took the lead with a 67-yard touchdown pass from Carson Beck to Dillon Bell with 2:31 left. That was Georgia’s first lead all day.

Then, the next offensive play, Williams answered.

He caught a 75-yard score that proved to be enough for the Crimson Tide to win.

Williams has caught 16 passes for 462 yards (28.88 yards per catch) and five touchdowns through four games.

Considering he’s supposed to be a senior in high school, it’s fair to say Williams feels like he’s playing in a simulation.

“It always feels like a video game, the opportunity to play on this stage with my guys,” Williams said. “You work so hard together. This is the fun part.”
