The market will be located in Hillhead Library in the west end of the city and will run monthly.

Locals will be able to visit it for the first time on Friday, October 25, and Saturday, October 36 between 11am and 4pm.

And they will be treated to an incredible selection as the market will offer a range of products from fashion and jewellery, to houseplants and street food.

It will host over 25 unique local traders who will each bring something different to the table.

Jordan Trainer, one of the founders of the Byres Road Market, revealed that the market will permanently be located in the library.

The space has been bare and laid empty since the coronavirus lockdown and the team has been one of the first people to use the space again.

They wanted to turn it into a local market and decided to submit plans to Glasgow City Council to use the space.

Council planning chiefs have now given the team the green light, and Jordan has said it is the perfect spot for local traders.

Speaking to Glasgow Live, he said: “We came across the library and we found they had this empty space they hadn’t used since lockdown.

“We’re one of the first to use it again and turn it into a local market for people in the west end.

“For local vendors, if you find a really good spot, it’s really hard to rent in that area it’s so expensive.

“A market is a more affordable way.

“I’m always looking for different space, I love doing these kind of events.

“I think it’ll be great to find other venues and make use of empty spaces.

“There’s so many empty spaces that just need to be used.

“It’s trying to make use of them and about the community and local people and local business as well.”
