More deaths from breast cancer can be prevented, experts believe, and the money raised Sunday at the Susan G. Komen More Thank Pink Walk in Newport Beach will help fund research, organizers said.
The money raised will also be used by the organization to help patients get the services they need and afford their treatments.

“Supporting individuals in our community who are facing breast cancer is essential to our mission, but we cannot do it alone,” Shannon Abeyta, executive director of Susan G. Komen Orange County, said in a statement. “This year’s walk is not just an event; it is a pivotal moment to secure vital funds that will make equitable care available to all.”
The More than Pink Walk had participants walking around the Fashion Island area, but also visiting a “We Remember” tent, learning more about breast cancer prevention and research, and honoring survivors, those in treatment and those living with cancer.
