Several contestants take part in Survivor every year, but only a few manage to leave a lasting impression. One such player was Lauren-Ashley Beck, who participated in the 39th season of the show. This season was also known as Survivor: Island of the Idols. As soon as she was spotted on CBS screens, she became a fan favorite with her bubbly personality and strategic thinking.

It was this thinking of hers that allowed her to establish a good footing in the show and make it to Day 38. Talking about her Survivor days, in a past interview, Beck revealed how she had to let go of her everyday beauty routine and shaving on the show.

On the same topic, when she conversed with some of her fellow participants during the “loved ones” visit, she was left in a state of shock to discover that she was the only one who hadn’t had laser hair removal. She added:

Apparently, everyone on my season got laser hair removal, but I did not. (Beck further said) I had a mini jungle in my armpits. As well as other places.

She made the above revelation in a very humorous tone, and after her Survivor journey, she’s also made a big name for herself on social media. Beck moved from Michigan to Los Angeles when she was just a teenager and worked as a nanny to manage her expenses. Since the show, she’s worked as a host and is currently a sought-after content creator.

Jeff Probst Reflects on Survivor’s Most Controversial Twist

In Survivor Seasons 41 and 42, the Hourglass Twist angered both players and fans alike. The contestants were divided into two teams, each trying to win a spot in the merge. The winning team would join the final tribe, while the losing team faced elimination and would not be able to join the jury.

The said twist became controversial when two players were sent to a separate island and had to choose: change the challenge results to stay safe or keep the results and risk elimination with the losers. Both players chose to stay safe, changing the game’s outcome.

During Season 41, castaways expressed their frustration directly to host Jeff Probst, calling the twist ridiculous and unfair. Some even accused him of lying about the winning team’s safety. At first, Probst defended the twist; however, later he admitted it wouldn’t be used again.

In an interview with Variety, he recognized the Hourglass Twist as a bad idea and said he went a little too far, showing he learned from this experience as the show continued to change.
