A BODY has tragically been found in the desperate search for a missing teenager.
Jamie Lyons, 19, vanished from Kirkcaldy, Fife, yesterday, and he was last seen in the town’s Greenloanings area around 1.30pm.
A frantic search was launched to track down the missing youngster.
But it has been confirmed this evening that a man’s body has been found.
The tragic discovery was made in a woodland spot in the Oriel Road area of Kirkcaldy.
Cops have confirmed that formal identification is yet to take place.
But officers have informed Jamie’s relatives of the find.
Police believe there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the man’s death.
A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
The discovery has sparked an outpouring of emotion from the community.
Taking to social media, one person said: “Rest easy wee man and to all his family and friends , keep each other close and look out for each other.”
Another wrote: “So sorry to hear this. Jamie was a lovely young man R.I.P. Thoughts are with you all.”
A third commented: “Aww this is just so tragic & utterly heartbreaking. Condolences to all his family & all that knew him. R.I.P young man.”
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 4.20pm on Monday, 30 September, the body of a man was found in a wooded area in the Oriel Road area of Kirkcaldy.
“Formal identification has yet to take place but the family of Jamie Lyons, 19, reported missing from the town on Sunday, 29 September, have been made aware.
“There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.”
