Sen. Katie Britt, R-Ala., will be supporting GOP vice presidential nominee J.D. Vance as a surrogate for her Senate colleague in the debate spin room on Tuesday night, the Britt campaign said Monday.
The spin room is where reporters go to seek out reaction from the candidates and their top supporters following a debate.
Britt is expected to make the case for why Vance, the Republican senator from Ohio, is the superior debater to Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, the Democratic nominee for vice president while taking shots at any stumbles or perceived errors made by Walz.
She is also expected to advocate for the Trump campaign platform.
Tuesday night’s debate between Vance and Walz will be hosted Tuesday by CBS News in New York at 8 p.m. Central.
The debate is the only time Vance and Walz will go toe to toe during the campaign.
Britt will be joined by several GOP congressional colleagues — Sen. Tom Cotton of Arkansas and Reps. Elise Stefanik of New York and Byron Donalds of Florida — as well as Donald Trump Jr., Trump senior adviser Jason Miller and Trump campaign transition co-chairman Howard Lutnik, according to NOTUS.
Britt’s role in the spin room is not the first time she’s helped bolster the Trump campaign. She spoke at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee in mid-July.
“We will defeat decline, dust off our dreams and forge our future because families across our nation deserve better,” Britt said at the convention. “Once again, America will be the land of limitless opportunity for all and paving that path starts today. So let’s roll up our sleeves. Send President Trump back to the White House. And get America back on track.”
