IT’S been a great start to the season for Celtic but tonight the opposition cranks up a gear as the Hoops face a daunting Champions League clash with Borussia Dortmund.
Last season’s beaten finalists aren’t quite the powerhouse they were in the recent past when they could call upon talent like Erling Haaland and Jude Bellingham.
But they remain a force to be reckoned with, especially at home in front of their fanatical “Yellow Wall” of supporters packed in behind one of the goals at their Westfalenstadion.
Both teams got off to a flier in this new-look Champions League group stage.
On the same night that Celtic were demolishing Slovan Bratislava 5-1 at Parkhead, Dortmund were in Belgium masterminding a 3-0 win over Club Brugge.
Unlike Brendan Rodgers’ side, the Germans’ domestic form has been patchy to stay the least.
After being smashed 5-1 away to VfB Stuttgart, they had to come back from 2-0 down before running out 4-2 winners in the derby against VfL Bochum on Friday night.
Now managed by former player Nuri Sahin – the former Real Madrid star who had an unhappy loan spell under Rodgers at Liverpool – Dortmund will be keen to make home advantage count on Tuesday night.
Celtic will make history if they can upset the odds – they’ve never before won a competitive match on German soil.
