IShowSpeed was put on planet Earth to entertain and he does that perfectly. Being a through-and-through entertainer, what the high-energy YouTuber is doing with his content is something we haven’t seen before. From insane reactions to chaotic live streams, IShowSpeed has proven time and again that he’s taking the field of content creation to the next level.
Whether it’s jumping over cars or sprinting against the fastest man in the world, you never know what Speed will bring to the table next. Speaking of the latter, Speed lost a 50m race worth $100K against Olympic gold medalist Noah Lyles. Still, fans praised the YouTuber, and commended him for delivering a neck-to-neck competition. However, there are others who believe that Noah Lyles was simply not giving his best.
IShowSpeed Almost Won a Race Against Noah Lyles
There’s no denying that IShowSpeed is quick on his feet. It’s right there in his name! He even raced against Travis Scott and ended up defeating the rapper.
Thus, when fans found out that he would be competing against the World’s Fastest Man of the moment, Noah Lyles, there was obvious excitement. For context, after the retirement of Usain Bolt, Lyles took up the “World’s Fastest” mantle. At the 2023 World Championships, he completed the sprint treble by winning gold in all three races – 100m, 200m, and 4x100m. Needless to say, Speed had his work cut out for him.
Theoretically, Lyles should have been able to defeat Speed without even breaking a sweat but what happened really boggled the minds of the viewers. The race was so close that Lyles and Speed argued for a solid minute before finalizing the former as the winner.
MrBeast, wearing the referee uniform, presented the $100K cash prize to Lyles who donated it to the charity of his choice – The Lives Brothers Sports Foundation.
Check out the race below:
Being a good sport, Lyles invited Speed to practice track with him over the week and then having a rematch at the end of it. He stated, “You should practice with me and then at the end of the week, we’ll race again.” While Speed did take up the offer, we will have to wait and see if he will actually be able to beat the World’s Fastest Man that too in a 100m race.
Fans Believe Noah Lyles Was Going Easy on Speed
At the 2023 World Championships held in Budapest, Lyles delivered his personal best during the 100m sprint. With a time of 9.83 seconds, the athlete was not only able to bag the gold but also made all our jaws collectively drop. The man runs at the speed of light!
Therefore, when someone like Lyles has such a head-to-head competition with a YouTuber that has never had Olympic training before, it seems totally unreal. On one hand fans praised Speed for his efforts and on the other, viewers believed that Lyles was simply taking it easy on the content creator.
They believe that Lyles wasn’t going full speed or even putting half his usual effort in the race. Check out what the fans have pointed out:
Lyles himself took a dig at Speed after the race pointing out, “You tapped out with 30 meters to go.” When the runner-up protested that he did not, Lyles shot back with, “I was looking at you bruh. Because I had that time, you know?” Cold.
We will soon find out if Lyles and Speed race against each other again or not. Since the stakes will be higher this time around, it’ll be interesting to see how the YouTuber fares against the man who ran 100m in 9.83 seconds!
