An interactive, competitive social gaming venue for adults with craft beer and a menu of Detroit-style pizza and upscale bites —think wings — is coming to Connecticut.
Level99 will open its first Connecticut venue at The Corbin Collection, in West Hartford in late 2025 a spokesperson for the company said.
The business, dubbed as like an adult playground, offers “real world physical and mental challenges,” and “vibrant event spaces,” and craft dining and beer.
Level99 will feature over 50 mental and physical challenges set in what is described as an immersive artistic setting.
In addition to their award-winning pizza they will feature seasonal scratch cooking, locally made beer from Two Roads Brewing Company, and innovative cocktails.
“Level99 offers social, physical, mental, and skill-based challenges in an open-world environment,” said Level99 CEO Matt DuPlessie in a statement.
DuPlessie is an MIT and Harvard Business School-trained engineer. ” He said players are encouraged to explore the art-saturated environment and “chart their own play path.”
Level99 has three locations across New England and this will be the first in Connecticut.
Additional locations are in the works for 2026, a company spokesperson said.
The venue will feature 50 mental and physical challenges and occupy a portion of the former Sears building.
Players can explore and play challenges together while they collect prizes and stars.
Unlike many venues in Connecticut that serve New Haven-style pizza, they will serve Detroit-style pizza that is square with a thicker crust.
They are also known for their fresh Wagyu burgers, butcher ground and never frozen.
They also serve piri-piri grilled chicken, a falafel smashburger, falafel smashburger, Nashville hot fried chicken, crispy chicken parmigiana, Birria French dip, fresh salads, and bites such as cantina nachos, garlic and parmesan wings, and chilled Shanghai noodles.
DuPlessie came up with the idea of Level99 after 20 years of being a leader in the interactive entertainment industry with his company 5 Wits, DuPlessie’s Massachusetts-based production company, Box Fort, the company said in a statement.
The 43,000-square-foot Level99 in West Hartford will accommodate up to 600 players in its gaming arena and 250 guests in its adjoining restaurant, Two Roads Kitchen and Tap.
The company plans to hire around 100 positions to support the location, a spokeswoman said.
“We’re thrilled to join forces with Level99 as they bring their dynamic experience to West Hartford,” Brad Hittle, president and CEO of Two Roads Brewing, also in a statement. “Their commitment to adventure, innovation, and delivering a truly unique consumer experience aligns perfectly with our ‘Road Less Traveled’ philosophy. It’s a natural fit, and we can’t wait to see what’s ahead.”
Emily Gagliardi, senior vice president at First Washington Realty, which owns The Corbin Collection, said in a statement, “We look forward to welcoming Level99 to The Corbin Collection, as this dynamic entertainment venue is exactly the type of tenant we look to partner with to drive meaningful activation and engagement at our shopping centers.
“Level99’s unique and playful approach provides an appealing experience that we believe will keep visitors engaged and drawn to the shopping center for many years to come.”
