Only Diehard Tite Kubo Fans Have Actually Understood the True Theme of Bleach Like the TYBW VA

Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War is a continuation of the original series; however, there are many changes from the animation quality to the overall mood of the series. Despite all the changes the series has undergone, some aspects always remain the same. For instance, Tite Kubo’s iconic and stylish art style and the core themes of the series.

From courage to the balance of life and death or the varying aspects of one’s personality, Bleach grapples with a multitude of themes. One of the themes that is ever-present and also appealed to the voice actor of Bazz-B is friendship.

One could argue that a huge part of Bleach’s appeal comes from its interesting characters and the camaraderie they share. If you don’t feel convinced by that, the voice actor perfectly summarized it into words.

Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War Voice Actor Understands Bleach Better Than Most

Ichigo is a more grounded protagonist compared to his contemporaries, like Naruto or Luffy. His dream isn’t grand like bringing peace to the world or becoming the strongest, he just wants to protect his loved ones. And, he has found friends who share the same dream as him. This part of Bleach makes it relatable for the audience and something that resonates with them deeply.

Not just fans, this aspect of the series also appealed to Xander Mobus, the voice actor of Bazz-B. Speaking with Screen Rant in an interview, Mobus shared the things that stood out to him as a kid, beyond the cool swords.

Like, why do they go to Soul Society? Because Rukia disappears and they just feel like something’s missing. And that’s just a wrong in the universe, that this person that enriched their lives and they felt like they had a deep connection with is gone.

Mobus was talking about the time Ichigo and his friends went all the way to Soul Society to save Rukia. They had done the same thing for Orihime during the Hueco Mundo arc. The bond between Ichigo and his friends was the main theme of the series and something that stood out to the voice actor.

The Core Theme is Also What Makes Tite Kubo’s Soul Society Arc So Great

While Tite Kubo introduces many different themes in every arc, his portrayal of the friendships in the story is exceptionally noteworthy. Ichigo and Rukia became friends through banter. Initially clashing with their thoughts and words, they quickly recognized each other’s strengths. Rukia became an integral part of Ichigo’s life and he didn’t think twice before taking on the Soul Reapers to save her.

Orihime and Chad shared many life experiences with Ichigo. Their friendship felt real and organic. There wasn’t a particular event that sparked their bond, rather they were always drawn to each other in a way. However, Uryu was introduced as an antagonist who challenged Ichigo and Rukia. Through battle, they grew to understand each other’s perspectives and became friends for life.

The Thousand-Year Blood War challenges their friendship as Uryu stands against his friends. Like every other time, they’ll probably reconcile like nothing happened, and assemble in Ichigo’s room to discuss how to save the world. And honestly, just the thought of them together in that cozy room is beyond heartwarming.

Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War is available to stream on DisneyPlus.
