DECATUR, Ala. (WHNT) — The Decatur Police Department (DPD) says two juveniles have been arrested after a series of vehicle break-ins where guns were stolen.
DPD said it received several reports of vehicle break-ins throughout the month of Decatur. The department said during those thefts, firearms were reported stolen.
The department said during the investigation two juveniles were identified as suspects in the break-ins with the help of school resource officers.
According to DPD, two separate search warrants were executed in Decatur and the reported stolen firearms were recovered.
The department said both juveniles were charged with certain persons forbidden to possess a firearm and two counts of breaking and entering a vehicle. Both have been transported to juvenile detention facilities.
