“The Voice” winner Sundance Head was shot in the stomach at his ranch in rural Texas on Friday.
The singer, who won Season 11 of the NBC competition series, was airlifted by helicopter to a hospital in Tyler, Texas, after paramedics were able to get him in stable condition, according to TMZ who was first to report the news.
Sundance Head’s agent told the outlet the singer was the person who called 911 after the shooting.
The agent went on, claiming Sundance Head’s wife Misty shared the bullet missed all of Sundance Head’s organs and was lodged in the fatty area of his stomach.
His wife, Misty, has asked fans for prayers during this time.
It’s unclear as to how Sundance Head was shot. Though, his agent shares that it’s normal for him to go hunting on his ranch from time to time.
On Friday morning, he shared a photo from inside of a tent, telling his Facebook followers that he woke up to “the sound of silence.”
Just hours later, he shared another post, celebrating his son Levi’s acceptance into Texas A&M University.
The shooting is being called an accident at this time, per the outlet.
Sundance Head is best known for his appearances on “American Idol” and “The Voice.”
In 2007, he was a semi-finalist on Season 6 of “American Idol.” His run on the show was ended when he was eliminated one week before the finals.
He became the winner of Season 11 of the “The Voice” in Season 16. Blake Shelton was his coach.
