2 face marijuana trafficking charges after traffic stop on I-65 in Priceville

PRICEVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — Police said two people are facing drug trafficking charges after officers found 16 pounds of marijuana during a traffic stop on Interstate 65.

The Priceville Police Department said officers stopped a vehicle on I-65 southbound around 12:30 a.m. near the Priceville exit for a traffic violation. After they made contact with the people in the vehicle, a narcotics field investigation began.

The department said they were able to establish probable cause and search the vehicle, where they found the marijuana.

According to PPD, the people in the vehicle also had multiple packaging materials “consistent with the illicit sale and transportation of bulk narcotics and U.S. currency.”

The pair are being held in the Morgan County Jail, and each of their bonds is set at $31,000.
