Plans launched for new bowling alley & arcade centre at shopping centre just a few miles from Glasgow

MAJOR new plans have been submitted to transform units inside a shopping centre into a huge bowling alley and arcade centre in a busy Scottish town.

The exciting family attraction is set to be located in Clyde Shopping Centre in Clydebank, West Dunbartonshire, just seven miles outside of Glasgow.

The multi-leisure facility would take over two units which have lain empty in the shopping centre for over four years.

The vacant spaces sit at the east entrance on Britannia Way and are close to the Omniplex Cinema, according to Glasgow Times.

Unit 13 used to be home to Rouge Clothing, while Unit 17 used to be an Argos shop which closed its doors for good back in 2020.

And plans submitted to West Dunbartonshire Council have stated that the two units could merge together to become a new hotspot for locals.

The plans have also said that a variety of attractions would be included in the bowling alley and arcade centre.

A total of 18 bowling lanes would be installed along with two karaoke rooms and an escape room complex.

YES, Just what’s needed for our town. We have been far too long without something like this. Let’s hope the planning don’t turn it down!

An additional eight spaces for pool tables and table tennis are also included in the plans.

Visitors will also be able to enjoy several arcade machines as well as a laser tag area.

Or they can enjoy food and drink at the fully licensed restaurant and bar, which is also included in the plans.

The company behind the application have said they aim to open outside the normal hours of the shopping centre.

They said this comes as part of a bid to boost the evening economy of the town and encourage locals to enjoy activities in the area.

A decision on the application to West Dunbartonshire Council will be made in the future.

There are currently 120 stores and brands operating inside Clyde Shopping Centre.

And locals have been left delighted with the possible addition of the bowling alley and arcade centre.

Many have flocked to social media to share their excitement and called for the council not to turn down the plans.

One person said: “Brilliant news. It will be a great addition to the Clyde Shopping Centre”.

Another added: “It’s about time!”

Someone else wrote: “Exactly what Clydebank is needing, some attractions to bring entertainment and more people in the hope to build Clydebank back up”.

BRAND NEW STORE

CLYDE Shopping Centre has seen a number of changes to it’s stores over the last year.

The news of the possible new bowling alley and arcade comes a few months after a brand new shop opened inside the shopping centre.

Bosses revealed that a new Pandora store officially opened its doors back in July.

Customers can find the new shop next to the Boots Opticians in Sylvania Way.

It is believed to be Pandora’s first-ever branch in the West Dunbartonshire area.
