HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — The second victim in an Oct. 12 shooting on Meridian Street has died in the hospital, the Huntsville Police Department confirmed.
The department said several officers responded to a gas station in the 3300 block of Meridian Street shortly after 10 p.m. on Oct. 12. after an officer heard multiple gunshots. At the time of the shooting, police said they believed several individuals fired shots in the parking lot.
When officers arrived, they found 22-year-old Damien Obrien Manning with a gunshot wound. Officers said Manning was pronounced dead on the scene.
HPD was then notified by Huntsville Hospital that a second gunshot victim arrived at the hospital, was taken in for treatment and was in critical condition. That victim has now died as a result of their injuries.
Five people have been charged with one count of reckless murder for the shooting.

HPD said more arrests are still expected in this shooting, and the HPD Major Crimes Unit is still investigating.
