Awards season has officially begun! Yes that’s right, last night marked the unofficial start of the race to the Oscars with the 2024 Governors Awards. While many stars took the chance to start off the season with the freshest off-the-runway looks, Angelina Jolie looked into the past.
The Maria star, who brought along her 16-year-old son Konx as her date, opted for a vintage piece from The Kit Vintage in Los Angeles—an empire-waist dress with a gold halter neck and an off-white column covered with a tiered lace overskirt. She glammed up the ’70s-esque dress with a diamond collar necklace and enormous drop earrings.
This isn’t Jolie’s first vintage rodeo. “What makes this moment the most meaningful for us, is that we know what a true vintage lover, fan, and supporter she is. Every time Angelina shops with us, she comes in on her own,” Robyn Goldberg, the store’s owner, wrote on Instagram. “She is very present, engaged, and chooses each piece. There has not ever been a stylist with her to hold her hand or a FaceTime to a friend. It is her surrounding herself with vintage, inspired by what she puts on next.”
The fact that the actor chose an unsigned dress when she could have her pick of any designer’s oeuvre speaks to her true love of the game. We can’t wait to see what else Angelina Jolie has in store this awards season.
