Style Mile Christmas Carnival to transform Glasgow streets

Style Mile Christmas Carnival to transform Glasgow streets

It begins at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall steps, at the giant Festive Glasgow Coat of Arms. People can interact with 22 jolly creations at 12 different locations.

They will animate the streets from Buchanan Galleries past Princes Square and Argyll Arcade, all the way to St Enoch Centre.

Passers-by and shoppers will see a magical show from Christmas-themed characters, including Father Christmas and Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer.

Elves will also be in attendance as well as dancing snowflakes, stilt walkers and much more.

Never-before-seen characters will also take part in the Style Mile Carnival to entertain everyone in attendance, with children able to head to the ‘Gingerbread Hoose’ to collect souvenirs.

Photo opportunities under the ‘Selfie Arch’ are also available, while there will be 500 limited editions 10th anniversary snowflake tree souvenirs available.

Glasgow’s Lord Provost, Jacqueline McLaren, said: “The Style Mile Carnival always brings a joyful, festive atmosphere to the city centre. Imaginative creations bringing the streets to life. Guaranteed to make everyone smile and put them in the mood for Christmas. Join us this Sunday for our 10th anniversary Style Mile celebrations and take the chance to shop, enjoy a coffee or a catch up with friends.

“Afterwards, stop by George Square to see the festive lights and the projection show lighting up the City Chambers. Remember, there’s also Winterfest at St Enoch’s Square. The entire Glasgow Loves Christmas events programme promises a welcome boost for city centre businesses as the Christmas countdown gets well and truly underway.”

Glasgow has an ongoing programme of activity and events, which includes the Winterfests in George Square and St Enoch Square, and the Glasgow Santa Dash on Sunday 8 December. To find out more visit the Glasgow Loves Christmas webpage.
