Hazel Green High School to honor 11-time winning coach with court naming ceremony

HAZEL GREEN, Ala. (WHNT) — The Madison County School System and Hazel Green High School will honor a longtime girls’ basketball coach with a court naming ceremony Tuesday.

On Nov. 19, the Madison County School System (MCSS) and Hazel Green High School announced that after the varsity girl’s basketball game Tuesday, there will be a ceremony to name the court after longtime coach Tim I. Miller.

The game tips off at 6 p.m. in the high school gym with the court naming ceremony to begin once the game finishes.

Over his career, MCSS said Coach Miller has led the Hazel Green Varsity Girls’ Basketball team to seven consecutive state championships in the 6A class, solidifying his place in Alabama high school sports history.

The most recent win marks Coach Miller’s 11th state championship in his coaching career.

Hazel Green High School Principal Dr. Quinn Headen remarked that Coach Miller’s impact goes beyond the game of basketball and beyond the trophies.

“Coach Miller’s impact goes beyond the trophies and the accolades. His dedication to our student-athletes, our campus, and our community embodies the standard of excellence we strive for at Hazel Green High School. Naming this court in his honor is a reflection of his incredible influence and the legacy he has built here,” Headen said.
