A man was arrested on several charges Monday after he was spotted running across Interstate 91 in Rocky Hill following a crash involving an unregistered and uninsured vehicle that allegedly contained multiple rounds of ammunition.
Troopers spotted a vehicle veering off the highway and crashing into the center median along I-91 South near Exit 23 shortly before 1:30 p.m., according to Connecticut State Police. A man was seen taking off on foot from the crash scene.
A trooper heading north on I-91 stopped in the shoulder of the highway shortly thereafter and detained the man, state police said. He was identified as 22-year-old Terrance Lynn of Hartford.
According to state police, Lynn allegedly admitted that he had just crashed along I-91 South after losing control of his vehicle and said he was not wearing his seatbelt.
The Pennsylvania license plate on the vehicle was found to be registered to a Mazda6, state police said, noting that the car that Lynn was driving was a Honda Accord. The Accord was found to be unregistered and uninsured, according to state police. Additionally, Lynn’s license had been suspended since May 2024.
When troopers searched the vehicle, they allegedly found three .22 rounds of ammunition that Lynn was not supposed to have, state police said. He was arrested and taken to Troop H in Hartford.
Lynn faces charges of evading responsibility, failure to maintain the proper lane on a limited access highway, interfering with an officer/resisting, criminal possession of ammunition, failure to wear seatbelt, operating/parking unregistered motor vehicle, improper use of registration plate, illegal operation of motor vehicle without minimum insurance and illegal operation of a motor vehicle under suspension.
He was held on a $25,000 bond and was expected to be arraigned in New Britain Superior Court on Nov. 19.
