Guardians' Vogt named American League Manager of the Year

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WKBN) – Cleveland Guardians Manager Stephen Vogt was named American League Manager of the Year on Tuesday evening.

The other two finalists for American League Manager of the Year were Kansas City’s Matt Quatraro and Detroit’s AJ Hinch.

Vogt is only the third rookie manager to win the AL Manager of the Year award.

In his first season as manager, Vogt led the Guardians to 92 wins, an American League Central Division title, and an appearance in the American League Championship series.

It marks the fourth time in franchise history that a Cleveland manager won the award.

Eric Wedge did so in 2007, while Terry Francona earned the honor in 2013, 2016 and 2022.

Milwaukee’s Pat Murphy was named National League Manager of the Year.
