MERCER, Pa. (WKBN) — A Farrell man was sentenced Tuesday for the shooting death of a teenager last year.
According to Mercer County District Attorney Peter Acker, Curtis Coleman III was given 15 to 50 years in prison for shooting 17-year-old Gavin Beighley in January 2023 in Sharon. Beighley died from a gunshot wound to the stomach after being taken to the hospital.
Last month, Coleman pleaded guilty to charges of murder in the third degree and possession of a firearm with an altered serial number in the fatal shooting.
Acker said there was a big turnout at the sentencing by Beighley’s family. Four dozen victim impact statements were submitted.
