Police Scotland have confirmed that Explosive Ordnance Disposal have been notified as their investigation continues.
SPT have also confirmed that no buses are entering or leaving the station and it will remain closed until further notice.
A statement from Police Scotland said: “Buchanan Bus Station is closed following a report of a potential suspicious item around 1.10pm.
“Killermont Street is closed to traffic and pedestrians. The public is advised to avoid the area.
“EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) has been notified and enquiries are ongoing.”
