BOARDMAN, Ohio (WKBN) — A Boardman man reported to police that he received a toll bill from Florida after a license plate camera took a picture of his license plate on another vehicle.
The man said he took the personalized license plate off a vehicle he sold in September and put the plate in his garage for safekeeping, but that same plate showed up on a toll camera in Florida on Oct. 17.
The man got a letter from the Florida Department of Transportation saying the driver with that license plate did not pay the toll. When the man got the letter, he went out to his garage to check on the license plate and said it was missing. He thinks someone took it.
Sunpass Customer Service in Florida advised the man to file a police report and have the plate entered as stolen.
The man said he still has the rear license plate for the sold car and that it was the front license plate he believes was stolen from his garage.
