GIRARD, Ohio (WKBN) – Last season, Girard finished second with a record of 10-2 in the always-tough Northeast 8 Conference; went onto win a tournament game over East in late-February.
This year, coach Joe Bornemiss expects more from his experience bunch.
Girard returns six key contributors led by its senior guard Makanzee White along with juniors Brooke Perry and Ally Gassman and sophomores Caylee Wilkes, Gianna Schubert and Ivory Hewitt.
“We have players that can score, good rebounders and girls that play physical basketball,” says Bornemiss. “We also have an exciting group of underclassmen coming up who will be key contributors.”
The Indians will square off against Columbiana on Monday, November in its season opener.
“We expect to play competitively each game and be ready for tournament time,” notes Bornemiss.
