Fly-on-the-wall Stephen Hendry footage captures moment seven-time champ describes his own performance as PATHETIC

SNOOKER legend Stephen Hendry has given fans a fly-on-the-wall look behind the scenes at his latest tournament.

But the frustrated former world champion was left blasting his OWN performance as ‘pathetic.’

Seven-time world champion Hendry, 55, is now retired from the professional game.

The King of the Crucible called time on his top level career for the second time earlier this year after a four-year comeback.

These days, Hendry has reinvented himself as a top YouTube star, with his snooker-based channel Cue Tips amassing a huge following.

He’s also regularly seen popping up on punditry duties for ITV’s snooker coverage and spends a significant amount of time in China on ambassadorial duties.

While he’s no longer playing on the professional tour, Hendry still pops up at events on the Seniors Tour.

Recently, he featured in the World Seniors Snooker 900 event in Hull, rekindling some major rivalries in the process.

Legendary names including Hendry, Jimmy White and Ken Doherty all took part in front of a packed out crowd.

And Scots legend Hendry decided to bring his fans along for the ride, with an all access behind the scenes look at his time at the tournament.

That footage has now been released in the latest episode on Hendry’s YouTube channel.

Ultimately, it doesn’t make for great viewing for Hendry who endured an afternoon to forget!

He first of all rekindled a rivalry with Tony Drago, a player Hendry had the better of for much of his career.

On this occasion, Drago triumphed and Hendry was left less than impressed with his own showing.

Speaking to the cameras after the game, he bemoaned: “I mean, my cue action is absolutely non-existent. The two pinks I missed in the middle were just, well, embarrassing.

“I love to watch Tony play but that fluke – what was that fluke about? He still hits the ball beautifully, it’s great to watch.

“Now I’ve got to play Jimmy White in the last match. Whoever wins will go through to the semi-final. Whoever loses, is out.”

Hendry v White is, of course, one of snooker’s greatest-ever rivalries.

While Hendry won seven world titles, White never managed to capture the sport’s biggest prize.

Hendry defeated White in a remarkable FOUR finals at the Crucible.

Before going out to face White, Hendry said: “Now Jimmy White and I play. (I’m feeling) not great. Not full of confidence. We’ll see how it goes.

“We’ve played so many times down the years, such a big history. I know probably the majority of the crowd still want Jimmy to win but I always enjoy disappointing them. It’s great fun. So yeah, maybe use that as a bit of motivation.”

It didn’t go well for Hendry on this occasion, however, as he was unceremoniously dumped out of the event.

Hendry only managed to pot a few balls in the quickfire event.

And the cameras captured the moment he arrived backstage, where had some rather unkind words about his own showing!

He blasted: “Pathetic! What a display.

“Two frames, I think I potted three or four balls. Jimmy made a nice break, what can you do about that? You can’t do anything sat in your chair.

“The few shots I played were pretty bad, so we’ll just stick to doing YouTube videos from now on!”

White went on to reach the final of the event but lost out to Brazilian Igor Figueiredo.

Figueiredo didn’t have the most successful career on the main tour, but has become the man to beat on the seniors circuit.
