YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – A man accused of a stabbing at a Youngstown group home was indicted Thursday in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court.
Devin Nash, 30, faces four counts of felonious assault, a second-degree felony, for an Oct. 26 attack at an Ohio Avenue group home on the north side that put two people in the hospital.
At the time, one of the victims was in critical condition when he was initially treated. Both victims were stabbed, police said.
Police said a disagreement preceded the stabbings.
Nash was not at the home when police arrived about 1 p.m., but he was found a short distance away on Logan Avenue and taken into custody without incident.
Police did not say if he was a resident of the home.
He has been in the Mahoning County Jail on $50,000 bond since his arraignment in municipal court. His lawyer said at his preliminary hearing that he expects to ask for a mental health evaluation for his client once his case is heard at the common pleas court level.
Nash was also charged with felonious assault in June 2022 after a man was stabbed during an argument at a home on Illinois Avenue.
Prosecutors had to dismiss the case in July 2022 because the victim never appeared for Nash’s preliminary hearing.
Nash was also accused of stabbing someone in 2018 in Boardman. Court records show he was ordered to undergo a competency exam when his case was heard in Mahoning County Area Court in Boardman and a competency hearing was set, but court records do not show the results of the hearing.
