EAST LIVERPOOL, Ohio (WKBN) — Back in October, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine made a stop in East Liverpool, announcing that a business from across the river was relocating to downtown.
True North is taking this piece of real estate in a new direction. In October, they made the announcement they’re moving their headquarters from across the river to downtown East Liverpool.
“We’re all local business owners. We’re not some corporation out of Dallas. Collaboration of all the business owners is extremely important,” said True North CEO and Founder Charles Bailey.
Bailey believes the project can play a bigger role in the ongoing revitalization happening downtown.
“This was envisioned to be an employee break room and cafeteria area but we decided to go and take it a step further and put in a true breakfast cafe that would be available not only to our employees but to the entire community,” he said.
The company specializes in consulting services and bookkeeping for small businesses and start-ups. They’re looking to find an operator for the restaurant, dubbed Latitude 40 for now, and allow them to tap into an audience of 70 or more people who work in the building.
“True North’s core business is taking the burden off of business operators to enable them to focus on what they do best. What we want to do is give them resources to really enable that success and take the pressure off of them,” Bailey said.
The project is based more on collaboration than competition. True North expects to move in by the end of the first quarter of next year and they’d like to have the Latitude 40 open around the same time.
“The term ‘a rising tide floats all boats’ — that’s exactly what we’re looking at here. We’re not looking at Latitude 40 as competition for any other restaurant in town. We’re looking at it as a catalyst to help those restaurants be even more,” said Bailey.
