Fulham midfielder Harrison Reed suffers an injury blow ahead of Saturday’s Premier League home clash with Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Fulham boss Marco Silva has revealed that Harrison Reed will have to undergo surgery to resolve a knee issue.
Silva’s side will welcome relegation-threatened Wolverhampton Wanderers to Craven Cottage for Saturday’s Premier League clash.
The hosts will be hoping to pick up from where they left off before the international break after recording consecutive victories over two London rivals.
Fulham claimed a narrow 2-1 victory over West London neighbours Brentford, before they recorded a 2-0 win in their away meeting with Crystal Palace.
As a result of those victories, Fulham are in seventh place and just one point adrift of the Champions League qualification spots.
Silva confirms Reed injury blow
Unfortunately for Fulham, they will be unable to call upon one of their midfielders after Silva revealed that Reed is set for a spell on the sidelines.
Speaking at Friday’s pre-match press conference, Silva said: “The bad news for us is about Harrison Reed. Yesterday he got an injury in his knee and, after the exams, he’s going to need surgery there. It will take longer, probably five, six weeks, to be ready again.”
Reed has had to settle for a bench role this season, with all eight of his Premier League appearances coming as a substitute.
While he may not be a guaranteed start, Reed’s absence will still come as a blow ahead of a busy schedule where squad depth will be crucial.

Lukic, Vinicius to feature in squad
With Reed out of action, Fulham will be pleased to bolster their midfield options with the return of Sasa Lukic.
Silva has confirmed that Lukic and forward Carlos Vinicius will both be available after recovering from their respective injury issues.
The Fulham boss said: “Sasa Lukic and Carlos Vinicius, they are available to be involved in the squad list, or in the XI.
“Nice to see both back. Carlos was closer the last few weeks. Nice to see Sasa coming back and being in a condition to be involved.
“Of course, need more time to get the right fitness and to be in the right shape, but he’s going to be involved in the squad list, and if we need him, he’s going to be ready.”
Lukic has been out of action since the beginning of October, while Vinicius has not played for Fulham since January after he spent the second half of last season on loan at Galatasaray.
