Sports Mole looks at the leading goalscorers in European leagues this calendar year, with Harry Kane’s latest hat-trick seeing him close in on top spot.
Harry Kane wrote his latest chapter into the history books on Friday night with yet another hat-trick as Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich saw off Augsburg at the Allianz Arena.
The England captain took home the matchball for the fourth time already this season, netting twice in stoppage time after opening the scoring just past the hour mark.
While his first two goals came from the penalty spot, Kane’s third saw him reach the 50-goal milestone in Bundesliga since his switch from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2023.
Remarkably, Kane has reached his half-century in only 43 appearances in the competition – the quickest of any player in Bundesliga history to score 50 goals.
Fourteen of those goals have come in just 11 outings so far this term, while in 2024 as a whole he now boasts 29 goals from 28 games.
That tally takes him comfortably clear of Erling Haaland and Robert Lewandowski in the race to be Europe’s top scorer for the year, although he is still looking up at Sporting Lisbon marksman Viktor Gyokeres in that list.
Here, Sports Mole counts down the top 10 goalscorers from across the European leagues this calendar year.
