The device is designed to detect potential threats and irregularities in real-time, providing users with advanced warning and monitoring capabilities. It primarily detects movement.
CENSIS and JCESS said: “The product’s versatility also makes it suitable for a wide range of applications, from residential security to supporting the independence of older or vulnerable individuals in their homes.”
Initial testing will begin in coming weeks, with deployments planned at locations including the football training centre at Ibrox in Glasgow and a new housing development in the city.
JCESS – which has grown to a team of 15 since it was founded in 2016 – has secured £400,000 from a private investor to finalise the development and commercial launch of the product through the new spin-out company, Secure Illumination.
CENSIS is playing a key role in designing and building the product, ensuring it meets the demands of its intended applications. The centre also developed the device’s software, allowing users to interact with the system.

We believe this is just the start of something much bigger, with potential applications across a variety of sectors.”
