A Norwalk gang member with previous felony drug and weapon convictions was sentenced to three years in federal prison on Thursday for illegally possessing a loaded semiautomatic handgun.
Patrick Elmore, 33, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Kari A. Dooley in Bridgeport to 37 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
On July 11, Elmore pleaded guilty to unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon.
Court records show that the FBI’s Bridgeport Safe Streets Task Force has continuously monitored gang violence in Bridgeport, Norwalk and Stamford.
In 2021 and 2022, investigators reportedly made four controlled purchases of ecstasy, which contained both MDMA and fentanyl, from Elmore, a known member of a violent Norwalk street gang, according to court records.
On April 12, 2023, Elmore was arrested on a state warrant. “At the time of his arrest, he possessed a loaded SCCY, model CPX-2, 9mm semiautomatic handgun with an obliterated serial number,” federal officials said.
Elmore’s criminal history includes state convictions for felony narcotics distribution and weapon possession offenses, making it illegal for him to be in possession of a firearm or ammunition, according to federal officials.
Elmore has been detained since his federal arrest on May 25, 2023, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.
