Barcelona are reportedly interested in signing Ajax defender Devyne Rensch next summer but could face competition from Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur.
Barcelona are reportedly interested in signing Ajax defender Devyne Rensch next summer, with the Netherlands international potentially being available on a free transfer.
The 21-year-old has again been a vital player for Ajax during the 2024-25 campaign, making 17 appearances in all competitions, scoring once and registering one assist, but there is doubt when it comes to his future in Amsterdam.
The right-back’s contract is due to expire next summer, and the Dutch giants have thus far been unsuccessful in their attempts to sign him to an extension, with a number of clubs said to be keeping a close eye on the situation.
According to SPORT, Barcelona want to bring a new right-back to Camp Nou next year, and Rensch has been identified as the number one target, with scouts from the Catalan outfit said to have watched him regularly this season.
The report claims that Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool are also interested, but Ajax have not yet given up hope of signing him to an extension, with a ‘good renewal offer’ said to have been placed on the table.
Barcelona ‘interested in Ajax defender Rensch’
Rensch has been with Ajax since 2016, coming through the youth system at the club before making his first-team debut in 2020.
The Dutchman has now featured on 147 occasions for Ajax in all competitions, scoring 10 goals and registering 12 assists in the process, including nine appearances in the Champions League.
Jules Kounde is currently the first-choice right-back at Barcelona, with Hector Fort the back-up, but it is thought that the club’s head coach Hansi Flick is keen to move the former back into his preferred centre-back role.
