Kittanning, Pa. (WKBN) — The Hickory Hornets fell in the PIAA Class 3A Quarterfinals against Penn Cambria, 30-7, at Armstrong High School in Kittanning on Saturday afternoon, Nov. 23.
Watch above for extended highlights and an interview with Hickory head coach Bill Dungee.
The game was postponed from Friday night to Saturday due to inclement weather.
“Hats off to my seniors, obviously, to go out as back-to-back District 10 Champions, didn’t end the way we wanted it to,” Dungee said. “Obviously, we didn’t play our best game. We have five turnovers here. Just from the start, we just seemed out of sorts. But credit goes out to them, they are a powerful team.”
Hornets sophomore running back Kelvin Morrison scored Hickory’s only points of the game on a six-yard touchdown in the first quarter.
“Very proud, can’t ask for more,” Dungee said. “As far as hard work, dedication and discipline — didn’t turn out the way we wanted, but hats off to us.”
Hickory ends the season with an overall record of 11-2. The Hornets finish 2024 as back-to-back District 10 Champions.
