YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — Thanksgiving is right around the corner, and a local nonprofit is helping families less fortunate prepare for the holiday.
It was the 6th annual Tony “Bear” Landis Turkey Trot on Saturday in Youngstown.
Landis and his biker group make it possible each year by raising donations for the meals. They picked up the turkeys and other ingredients Saturday morning at a grocery store.
Their last stop was at the Rescue Mission of the Mahoning Valley to drop everything off.
“Every year, a Saturday before Thanksgiving, we all get together on our motorcycles and in trucks and cars and we all go buy turkeys and the fixings and bring them down to the Youngstown Mission and help support the less fortunate,” Landis said.
The group was able to give out over 100 turkeys this year.
