Pundit slams Hibs star Elie Youan for ‘not acceptable’ red card reaction – but fans insist ‘it’s not that deep’

HIBS fans don’t have much to smile about with their team bottom of the league.

David Gray doesn’t have his problems to seek either after a 4-1 reverse at Dundee.

His day started well – an opener from Chris Cadden after just two minutes – but then the smile was wiped from his face too.

The under-fire Hibs boss needed a win but Jordan Obita was sent-off ten minutes later and by half-time Dundee were in front through Nectraios Triantis’ own-goal.

Hibs couldn’t find a reaction after the break either and slumped to a miserable defeat – their seventh of the season so far.

But it’s the reaction to the game-changing red card – by one player in particular – which split the fans – and ENRAGED former Hibee midfielder Marvin Bartley.

Easter Road star Elie Youan was spotted by Premier Sports cameras playing KEEPY-UPS as Obita made his way off the pitch.

The grinning playmaker performed various tricks with the ball as he waited for play to restart – and Bartley BLASTED the show.

The half-time pundit raged: “It’s embarrassing, honestly.

“It sums it up at the moment that he’s allowed to get away with that.

“Not only is he doing it, he’s got players looking at him and allowing him to do it.

“Either it’s, you know, he does what he wants and he doesn’t listen anyway, or players don’t care.

“I don’t know which one of the two it is. But that is not acceptable.

“You’ve just had a player sent off, get across to your manager, find out what we’re going to do for the next 10 or 15 minutes to see this game out or until the halftime interval, whatever else it might be.

“But doing that actually sums up the place.”

Fans though thought his anger was misplaced and should be directed elsewhere – but few could agree on exactly where.

One replied: “Come on now, Marv. Thats not the issue here. That boy’s the least of our worries.

“I’d be more concerned at the lack of leadership from our ‘leaders’ on the pitch & our coaching team for not addressing the changes needed earlier.

“More leadership from them rubs then off on the team.”

A second quipped: “It’s really not that deep… it’s keepie uppies. Not like the guy is doing that at a funeral

A third added: “Okay..fair point. However, I would argue none of the players looked like they were working on a plan. I feel you’re all targeting Youan because of the keepie uppies and other things he’s been involved with. The whole team & coaching staff should be criticised IMO!”

But some sided with Bartley who had more to say about his old team at full-time.

One agreed: “Sums up the complete lack of leadership and self-responsibility.”

Another added: “Mad that people commenting on this are saying nothing wrong with it or whatever eh but then also expect a hibs team with a winning mentality and to give there all. Small things like this can make A difference.”

And a third joked: “Marv it’s hibs they already know how to set up with ten men – it happens every other week.”

Later Bartley let rip against the league strugglers.

He went on: “When you lose a game 4-1, you just want to get off the pitch.

“I don’t see enough within that dressing. I don’t see enough hurt within these players when they’re losing games of football. I don’t see enough hurt, you know, they’re bottom in the league.

“David Gray must be must be seething in there.

“The buck will stop with him because it’s easier to just get rid of one manager than it is a whole squad of players. And listen, I’m not saying all players have let him down.

“But some of the performances today, when it was a massive, massive game for me – going 1-0 up, you then have a sending off, fair enough, but then show some fight.

“They didn’t, they just rolled over and had their tummies tickled. And they lose the game 4-1.”

Boss Gray claimed at full-time the players were still behind him “one hundred per cent” however he did concede the decision over his future “lay with the powers that be” within the club.
