BOXER Barry McGuigan desperately tried to dodge questions on I’m A Celebrity after landing Down Under.
The 63-year-old arrived in Australia ahead of his jungle stint, but remained coy about his plans.
When The Sun asked Barry what he was doing in Australia, he said: “I’m out here to sign the next best Australian fighter.
“I’m going to go searching for him. There might be a few tasks along the way.”
He added: “Anyway, stop asking the impossible questions I’m not allowed to answer.”
Our reporter Amir Razavi met with the famous boxer shortly after his flight landed at Brisbane Airport.
He said to Barry: “I imagine you’re not scared of much, but how about snakes and spiders?”
Barry said through laughter: “I can’t answer that question, stop asking me.”
The Sun confirmed he’s one of the stars to sign up to the 2024 series of Ant and Dec’s jungle show.
He won the WBA and lineal featherweight titles and held them from 1985 to 1986.
The real reason he’s signed up for the gruelling reality show is believed to be for a massive pay cheque.
ITV famously offer the cast huge sums of money to take part, and the payday couldn’t come at a better time for Barry, following his multi-million-pound legal dispute.
Although his current net worth remains unknown, he has had several financial issues due to failed companies and a crippling £6million legal battle with boxer Carl Frampton.
Channel bosses have also secured well-known names this year including Dancing On Ice judge Oti Mabuse, N’Dubz singer Tulisa Contostavlos, Love Island’s Maura Higgins and Corrie’s Alan Halsall.
