A Connecticut woman was charged with a number of motor vehicle offenses on Sunday afternoon after fleeing from state police following multiple calls about a wrong-way driver on Interstate 84 near Manchester.
Troop H dispatch received several calls around 1:22 p.m. on Sunday alleging that a vehicle was driving erratically while traveling the wrong way on I-84 East near Exit 62 in Manchester, according to the Connecticut State Police.
It was initially reported to dispatch that a white vehicle stopped on the left shoulder then drove off heading eastbound in the right lane while operating erratically, state police said. The same vehicle then allegedly turned around on the highway and was driving west in the eastbound area between the HOV lane and swale, according to state police.
Troopers located the vehicle, a white Honda Accord, and attempted to make a traffic stop. State police said the driver engaged troopers in a pursuit that was later terminated.
According to state police, the alleged driver, identified as 24-year-old Tierra Turner of Hartford, was located in East Windsor and arrested.
Turner was charged with two counts of driving the wrong way on a divided highway and one count each of reckless driving, disobeying officer signal, engaging police in pursuit, failure to drive in proper lane, improper turns, improper parking highway, failure to obey traffic control signal light, tinted auto glass requirement, interfering with an officer/resisting, disorderly conduct and first-degree reckless endangerment. She was released from state police custody on a $25,000 non-surety bond and was scheduled to appear in Hartford Superior Court on Monday.
According to state police, Turner remained in the custody of the East Windsor Police Department in separate charges stemming from an incident in East Windsor.
