A Connecticut man was sentenced to two years in prison for possessing videos depicting the sexual abuse of children, according to federal authorities.

Luis A. Rosado, 31, of New Britain, also was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Victor A. Bolden in New Haven to five years of supervised release, according to the office of Vanessa Roberts Avery, U.S. Attorney for Connecticut.

Federal authorities, citing court documents and statements made in court, said that the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received two CyberTipline reports from Kik Messenger in May and June 2022 that two separate Kik Messenger accounts had been used to upload video files depicting the sexual abuse of children.

“The investigation connected both Kik Messenger usernames to Rosado and determined that, between April and June 2022, he used them to upload and distribute 104 video files depicting the sexual abuse of children, including prepubescent children,” according to federal authorities.

Rosado, who lived in Manchester at the time of the offense, was arrested in October 2022 and pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography in February this year, according to federal authorities.

Rosado is free on a $100,000 bond and required to report to prison on Dec. 4.

The case was investigated by Homeland Security Investigations, Connecticut State Police, Manchester Police Department, and the Connecticut Center for Digital Investigations.
