Akira Toriyama Gave Broly Such a Severe SSJ Mutation Only One Other Saiyan Race from Another Universe Has Unlocked it: Dragon Ball Theory

Featuring growth through internal struggles and relentless pursuit of becoming the ultimate version of yourself has always been the core part of Akira Toriyama’s Dragon Ball. A major part of the show was how the mangaka showcased the unique and mesmerizing concept of transformations.

From transforming Goku into an SSJ against Frieza for the first time to mastering the Ultra Instinct in The Tournament of Power, Toriyama-Sensei knew how to keep things interesting for the fans. Although Kakarot and Vegeta are the series’ main protagonists, Broly, another non-canon Saiyan, had a massive fan following in the community.

Nonetheless, he became a canon character in the 2018 film Dragon Ball Super: Broly, followed by enormous hype and memorable SSJ forms, leaving a lasting impression on the fans. Despite having limited screen time, an interesting theory follows the Berserk Saiyan, where he might be the key to the ultimate Super Saiyan power featured in Universe 6 of the show!

Akira Toriyama’s Broly is the Key to the Ultimate Saiyan Race in Universe 6!

Akira Toriyama’s Dragon Ball knows how to create spectacles that will keep the audience hooked for four decades. Broly, who was initially featured as a villain, was a testament to this idea because his psychological struggle is what keeps him going, making fans believe his potential can’t be contained.

One key reason behind his brute force is how he can easily utilize the power of Oozaru, The Great Ape, despite lacking a tail, that too in his human form. The power is so potent that being in his base form, he can take down the Prince of all Saiyans, that too in his SSJ transformation.

Now, in DBS, the mangaka had featured Universe 6, which was quite similar to Universe 7. Though it also featured Saiyans like Cabba and Caulifla, they have an insane difference, which is cool enough to blow away the minds of the fans.

For a major part of DBS, viewers have complained about how the power level is broken in the show, and the Saiyans featured in Universe 6 were insanely strong. Though Universe 7 Saiyans are dependent on the need for tails, Universe 6’s warriors have grown past the need for a tail.

The race has found a way to channel their innate Oozaru power in their human forms, making them Brolyesque. None of them were like a ticking bomb, which would probably be because of the mutation and differences in concepts.

This even includes how their home planet, Planet Sadala, existed while Planet Vegeta perished in the original storyline. Coming back to the tale of the tails, it can be assumed that the entire Saiyans of Universe 6 have harnessed the ability to tap into the power of The Great Ape.

This notion can be again reinforced by how the Saiyans do not lose control of their power and go on a rage spree. Well, Kefla would be an exception because she is a shy warrior, and it felt as if she was hesitant. Therefore, when she raged out, she might have tapped in too deep and lost control like the Great Ape.

Universe 6’s Saiyans Can’t Match Broly’s Popularity

In the world of Dragon Ball, there is no other antagonist who is as popular as Broly. Despite the character getting limited appearances in the franchise, with his most recent being in the 2018 film, DBS: Broly. However, that has not stopped the fans from loving the character from the bottom of their hearts.

Despite being a polite and shy Saiyan in his base form, he did not hesitate to kill Kakarot and Prince Vegeta in his Berserk form. While he is different from other villains featured in the show, he has forever been close to the fans.

During an exclusive interview with Yahoo! Japan via ComicBook, Akio Iyoku, Shueisha’s Section Chief, explained the key reason for the anti-hero’s evergreen fame. He said, “Overseas, ‘strength’ determines [a character’s] popularity.”

He further added how in Western countries like the USA, his physique played a key role in his fame, making him relevant to the show while having limited appearances.

He’s got bulging muscles and gives Goku a tough fight, so the Super Saiyan version of Broli is popular.

Well, the Saiyan had a change of heart, because in Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, he was on Lord Beerus’ planet, while Goku and Vegeta were going all out against each other.

The fans are excited to witness the strongest trio in the history of anime, as the characters are the strongest and regarded as the franchise’s best.

Dragon Ball Super can be streamed on Crunchyroll.
