Alabama-based contractor finishes first phase of $35.4 million Atlanta project

Birmingham contractor Capstone Building Corp. has completed the first phase of a $35.4 million mixed-income residential project in Atlanta.

McAuley Station is a 163,905-square-foot development with 170 affordable and workforce single family housing apartments.

The initial phase features a five-story parking deck with 312 spaces, a roof amenity area, a bocce ball court, an activity center/computer center, wellness and fitness center and a clubhouse/community room.

McAuley Station is in Atlanta’s Sweet Auburn district, located at 375 Gartrell St. S.E., just north of Decatur Street and MARTA’s King Memorial station.

Developed by Pennrose in partnership with Saint Joseph’s Health System, Inc. (Mercy Care), McAuley Station is part of the McAuley Park master-planned community.

The architect was Atlanta-based Smith Dalia Architects, specializing in residential and commercial buildings.

Mercy Care is an organization dedicated to providing healthcare to the most vulnerable populations, focusing on the homeless.

“Capstone Building Corp. is grateful to developer Pennrose for entrusting us with this significant project,” Joe May, Capstone Building’s vice president of project management. “We are proud to have supported with the completion of McAuley Station, a project that addresses the need for affordable housing in Atlanta while supporting the invaluable services provided by Mercy Care.”
