Alabama substitute teacher arrested for being intoxicated on campus

A substitute teacher was arrested on the campus of Priceville High School Wednesday morning for public intoxication.

According to Morgan County School Superintendent Tracie Turrentine, faculty reported a “non-employee adult” who appeared to be intoxicated.

Priceville police, and the school’s student resource officer, “removed the individual from campus,” Turrentine said in a statement.

“Student safety is a top priority for Morgan County Schools,” Turrentine’s statement reads. “We work closely with various agencies to ensure the security of our campuses. There were no immediate threats to faculty or students. Both the Priceville Police Department and Morgan County Schools remain committed to maintaining a secure environment for everyone.”

WAAY, citing Priceville police, said Brandi Michelle Bomar, 44, was arrested.

According to jail records, Bomar was booked into the Morgan County Jail and charged with public intoxication and illegal possession of prohibited liquor.

Her bond was set at $1,000.

Last week, a physical education teacher at a Tuscaloosa County school was put on leave following his arrest at the school. James Steven Cox, 40, was arrested at Lloyd Wood Education Center – a PK-12 school in Northport – about 1:30 p.m. Friday and charged with public intoxication.
