Alabama’s Kalen DeBoer talks injuries, Wisconsin, Jalen Milroe

Alabama football had its first road test of the season. And the Crimson Tide fared well against Wisconsin.

Jalen Milroe threw and rushed for touchdowns. The defense forced takeaways. Ryan Williams did Ryan Williams things, extending his touchdown streak to three games.

No. 4 Alabama went on to defeat Wisconsin 42-10 on Saturday at Camp Randall Stadium.

Alabama coach Kalen DeBoer spoke with reporters in Wisconsin after the game. Here’s a recap of what he said.

Kalen DeBoer postgame press conference

  • DeBoer called it a solid overall performance. “Team football,” DeBoer said.
  • DeBoer talked about how Alabama finished the half as a “big swing in momentum.”
  • DeBoer said the team is getting into the flow now of a game week.
  • DeBoer said Malachi Moore had a hit to the head. “Going through the protocol with him.” “I’m thinking he will be alright.”
  • Qua Russaw has a lower leg injury. “Continue to evaluate.” Running back Richard Young also has a lower leg injury, DeBoer said. Similar injury.
  • DeBoer didn’t think the Alabama offensive line had really any missed assignments. “I liked the balance of what we were able to do, run and pass, and that starts up front.”
  • DeBoer on takeaways: “Getting one early and getting that momentum, it becomes contagious.”
  • DeBoer on touchdown pass from Jalen Milroe to Ryan Williams: “I thought it was right on the money. I loved what Jalen did with those balls down the field.”
  • DeBoer praise the time Milroe had to be able to make those throws.
  • DeBoer said “Wilkin (Formby) will continue to work in the mix and be a part of it as well.”
  • DeBoer said there was a business-like approach in the locker room pregame. “I’m really pleased with how they have that business-like approach but there’s a lot of energy too.”
  • DeBoer said when he heard the play call for the touchdown to Germie Bernard, he loved it.
  • Message to team late in first half: Alabama wanted to be aggressive and use those timeouts they had.
