Zombies became a part of Call of Duty in 2008 with World at War and stood the test of time. Now it is at the heart of the popular military shooter. Fans now await the news every time Activision is about to release a new season of the game. It has come far.
Several iterations of the mode have arrived since. For as long as it has been praised, it has been a subject of harsh criticism at some points. Overall, the mainline Black Ops series has always taken the cake. But what about the other iterations? But which of them has the most fun gameplay? Let’s find out now.
6. Black Ops: Cold War
The campaign was great and we got to see some really tough characters in the game who’d go to lengths to execute a task. But when it comes to Zombies, fans would like to skip that part.
While Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is doing so many things better than the previous failure in the beloved military shooter, it needs to work on zombies too. HUDs became crowded in Cold War and drops weren’t really fun. There wasn’t really a zombie feel to it, like the ones that came before it.
5. World War 2
Call of Duty decided to take another stroll on the Omaha Beach, where the sand turned red in 1944. Nostalgia wasn’t simply in the single-player campaign, as Zombies returned in the popular military shooter in 2017.
Though maps weren’t that great, it somehow felt like the original ‘Zombies Remaster‘. Yes, these zombies were scarier than the original and users would probably like playing it initially. But they’ll likely grow bored of it, especially when they’ll play solo.
4. Infinite Warfare
If downfall had a face, it would look something like the Zombies in Infinity War. When that soundtrack kicked in, everybody felt those goosebumps in ‘Zombies in Spaceland‘. Then, there was also that ‘Yo‘ gesture. Call of Duty had simply pulled a Zombieland in this one.
But the fun began fading away like it has faded away in Treyarch’s Zombies. While Rave in the Redwoods was okay, Attack of the Radioactive Thing and Beast from Beyond would have to be a topic of debate regarding which of them was the worst.
3. World at War
We don’t even have to think about putting it in the top three. After all, it all began here. It began as a minigame where users simply safeguarded themselves in small maps, buying weapons and doors.
It was simple, as they fought for points and not to ward off dark evil forces. It wasn’t Warzone where we saw the revive feature in the game. It was Zombies where a fallen teammate can be saved by another soldier.
2. Modern Warfare 3
Modern Warfare might have gone downhill with the latest entry in the franchise; however, it’s DMZ-like Zombies was certainly a treat for gamers. Despite the now-boring storyline, it was fun killing Zombies scattered across a large map.
Though it does have a bit of DMZ DNA, it lacked intensity of the mode. However, it was entertaining when the gameplay was concerned. If it wasn’t for those bugs and glitches, this would simply have made it to the top.
1. Advanced Warfare
Apart from the exclusive Exo Zombies trying to eat your brain, the presence of John Malkovich and Jon Bernthal made the game more fun than anything. Moreover, it had this Dead Space sort of feel when users come across the enemies.
With those infection zones and annoying acid zombies, difficulty is turned up a notch. However, that doesn’t make a user quit the game but makes them come to the edges of their seats.
And the boost jumping is something you don’t see in other Call of Duty Zombies modes. To this date, Exo Zombies remains one of the most underrated among the available ones.
