MCINTOSH, Ala. (WKRG) — Family members of former “American Idol” finalist Triston Harper, 16, have announced the singer is now married and a dad-to-be.
Harper found fame on the nationally televised singing competition last season, where he made it to the top five.
Triston’s mother, Hattie Sullivan, posted news of her son’s marriage and his wife’s pregnancy to her Facebook page on Nov. 8. (Harper had previously indicated he had gotten married a few days before in his own Facebook post.)
“Now everybody has congratulated me on Triston and Paris getting married but to me that is old news,” Sullivan wrote, adding, “but now I’m bout to be a ‘G Ma.'”
Harper reposted the news on his own Facebook page, as well.
During his time on “American Idol,” Harper had dedicated the Luke Combs song “Beautiful Crazy” to his girlfriend-turned-wife Paris Reed.
Triston was 15 years old when he first went on the show. He was eliminated in one of the final rounds before the top three contestants were revealed. Abi Carter, a contestant from California, ultimately won the competition.
