They had been in a relationship officially since 2006 when they first confirmed it with the announcement of expecting their first child together. According to a 2018 insider source, Jolie allegedly regretted her decision to separate from the Bullet Train actor.
However, another source close to Pitt suggested the same year that he didn’t want to revisit his marriage to Jolie, claiming that she wasn’t the woman whom he fell in love with. Things would get ugly between them after Pitt sued Jolie for selling shares in a winery they co-owned and Jolie countersued him alleging physical and verbal abuse.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt‘s relationship caused a prominent Hollywood scandal where she was accused of causing the divorce between him and Jennifer Aniston. Both the actors denied the affair allegations on the sets of Mr. & Mrs. Smith, although Jolie admitted that she fell in love with the actor at the time.
Their family grew to six children by the time they announced their engagement in 2012. They legally married in August 2014 and separated in September 2016. The Maleficient actress was the one who initiated the divorce proceedings. During a 2021 interview with The Guardian, she shared that she was brought to a position where she felt she had to separate from Pitt.
A report in Hollywood Life in 2018 suggested that Jolie might have regretted her decision to divorce Pitt. According to a source close to Jolie, the Eternals actress missed having the Wolfs actor in her life on a daily basis. The source further elaborated that Jolie missed “waking up next to him, starting her days with him and going to bed next to Brad.” She also reportedly missed “the sound of his laughter with the kids,” with the source adding that Jolie knew Pitt did his best to be a good father. However, Jolie’s allegations of Pitt’s abuse against her and their children on a plane in 2016 tell a different story (via The New York Times).
Brad Pitt Had Zero Desire To Reunite With Angelina Jolie
Another insider report to Hollywood Life that came a few days after the previous one stated that Brad Pitt had no regrets about their divorce. The source close to Pitt shared that he didn’t care about Jolie missing him. The source added that he had no plans for reconciliation and that the marriage was truly over for him. The source told Hollywood Life:
Brad couldn’t care less about Angelina supposedly missing him, or regretting filing for divorce, that relationship is well and truly over as far as he’s concerned, and Brad has zero desire to revisit it, and give it a second shot.
The source further added that the years of marriage between the duo had been a “living hell” for the F1 actor. It made him question whether he actually knew the woman he fell in love with, to begin with. The source’s account suggested that he clearly moved on from the relationship.
He started dating Inés de Ramon in 2022 and she reportedly moved in with him into his home in February 2024 (via PEOPLE). Jolie and Pitt are currently in a legal battle over the Château Miraval winery and 2016 abuse allegations.
