Kathryn Newton received the flak from fans last year for her role in the disappointing Ant-Man 3. But fans may have been a little too harsh on her after she just proved how much of a sweetheart she really is. After a photo of her with a fan was posted on social media, fans are now praising her for how she handled the fan’s request.
In the photo, the fan is seen carrying Newton in his arms. After her stint as Cassie Lang in Ant-Man 3, Newton made a comeback with her performance in the horror comedy film, Abigail. She also starred as the eponymous character in the Zelda Williams-directed film Lisa Frankenstein.

Kathryn Newton allowed a fan to carry her in his arms for a picture—something not many celebrities would be comfortable with. However, Newton saw no harm in granting this unusual request. Whether it was her idea to take such a fun, spontaneous photo remains unclear, but it has certainly earned her mad respect from fans.

The photo was taken when Newton recently appeared as a guest at the FanX Salt Lake Comic Convention. She was invited as a guest as she had built a reputable career in the industry. After starting as a child star in the CBS comedy Gary Unmarried, she went on to star in the HBO mystery drama Big Little Lies and the Netflix teen series The Society.
Newton also starred in films like Bad Teacher, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, Blockers, Pokémon Detective Pikachu, Freaky, and The Map of Tiny Perfect Things. In 2023, she replaced Emma Fuhrmann as Cassie Lang in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. However, the film was one of the most underwhelming films from the MCU.
Newton got blamed for her role and she received some harsh words of criticism for her portrayal of Cassie. However, fans are now pulling back on their words after she just proved that she is a treasure in the industry. They couldn’t believe that she would agree to do something like this with a fan. She recently made some good choices of roles, including the movie appearance in the critically acclaimed film Abigail. She also appeared in one episode of the Emmy-winning series Hacks as Bella Donaldson. She also played a supporting role in the indie film Griffin in Summer, which premiered at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival.

In the final scenes of The Marvels, Iman Vellani‘s Kamala Khan meets up with Hailee Steinfeld‘s Kate Bishop to discuss the possibility of forming the Young Avengers. One major shout-out was given to Cassie Lang as Khan mentions putting out a “feeler” to Ant-Man’s daughter.
When Kathryn Newton appeared for an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, she was asked about her “future friend” Vellani’s mention of her character in the film. She revealed that she received an overall picture from Marvel, but added that she didn’t like to take anything for granted. However, she shared that she would jump at the opportunity to work in the MCU again. She told THR:
It’s such a big part of my life. But they don’t really tell you. They tell you an overall, but I don’t take anything for granted. I am just trying to get through the day. Let’s finish one movie and then let’s continue. But I would very much also jump at the opportunity to work with Marvel Studios again.
The Marvels facing a disappointing box office performance may have put the plans for a Young Avengers project on hold. It is also unclear whether Newton’s Cassie Lang will appear in the upcoming Multiverse Saga finale.
